Graduate Teaching Orientation In-Person
Graduate Teaching Orientation (GTO) is a REQUIRED two-day event with Day One fully virtual and Day Two fully in-person. This event is dedicated to orienting all of MU’s (domestic and international) graduate students with a new role that contributes to teaching (such as leading recitation, grading, etc.) at the University of Missouri. Postdoctoral scholars, experienced Teaching Assistants, and Graduate Instructors who have previously attended GTO are welcome (but not required) to attend for a refresher, space permitting.

Thursday, August 15, 2024
8:30 am - 12:30 pm – Virtual over Zoom and via Canvas. You will receive a separate email with instructions for how to access Zoom and Canvas.
Friday, August 16, 2024
8:30 am - 4:00 pm – In-person. Morning sessions will be as one large group in Middlebush Hall 142 (Walter Johnson Auditorium), and small groups will be in classrooms. Details will be shared closer to event time. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Both days are required. Attendance will be taken.
Registrants will be emailed a detailed schedule for all sessions which include helpful and engaging sessions on such topics as: Academic Technology, Inclusive Teaching, and on-going professional development opportunities.
