Disability Accommodations and You! In-Person
Faculty are a critical component in ensuring disabled students have an equal opportunity to a quality education. From referring students to the Disability Center to helping support the implementation of accommodations, it’s important for faculty to feel confident in their role. During this workshop, staff from the Disability Center share information regarding the process students follow to establish accommodations and the rights and responsibilities faculty have in it. Faculty will also be given a tour of the Instructor Portal, providing an opportunity to learn how this system is used to appropriately address student needs.
After attending this session, faculty will:
1) Understand current trends related to disability in higher education.
2) Understand the general process students follow to establish eligibility for accommodations so they can refer appropriately.
3) Understand their rights and responsibilities in providing accommodations.
4) Know the key features within the Instructor Portal that can assist in managing accommodations.
